Relational work is heavy and harsh. Fraught with pain and misunderstanding, the most natural response to the workload of relationships is to run. The only problem is relationships are also exhilarating and essential.
For as long as I can remember, I have marveled at the mystery of relationships. My journey began as a street kid from a
relationally dysfunctional home. I silently screamed with the plea from Rodney King after the 1992 Los Angeles
riots: “Can we all get along?”
After over three decades of managing and motivating people in the local church as a pastor, I now spend my waking hours heralding the call for living in redemptive, reconciled relationships. I simply call them “stay in the room” relationships.
